Hope Scholarship and Lifetime Learning Credit Information

for Tax Year 2007

 

 

 

The University of North Carolina has furnished an electronic copy of the 1098-T to the Internal Revenue Service.  In accordance with IRS Notice 99-73 and IRS Notice 99-37, the University reported social security number, name, address, and enrollment status for students who were enrolled and incurred qualified tuition and fee charges during the calendar year 2007. If the name, address, and/or social security number reported on Form 1098T you received is incorrect, please contact the UNC Charlotte 1098T Help Line 704-687-4781.


Your 1098-T reports qualified tuition and fees charged to you during 2007 and scholarchips you were granted during 2007. Congress extended the tax benefits for education that were to expire at the end of 2006. Tuition tax benifits will currently be available through 2008. For more information see your tax advisor or check out publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education, on the IRS web site at: www.irs.gov.

 

Information about qualified charges will be provided on the 1098-T for the year ended December 31, 2007. To obtain information about qualified payments,
